![]() I have a document that had a numbered list of references. I had cross references in the document which are all showing the number zero, and the list of references is now blank. See attached figures. Anyone know what happened? |

Without access to an extract from the actual document to work with, we'd only be guessing. Have you tried pressing Ctrl-A, followed by F9, or simply doing a print preview?
If refreshing the document doesn't work, can you attach a document to a post with some representative data (delete anything sensitive)? You do this via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab at the bottom of this screen.

I attached the file as requested
But yes, I did try refreshing the display with print preview. |

The answer is quite simple: someone has deleted the reference #s from the 1st column in Tables 1-2 to 1-4, so the cross-references to those numbers in Table 2-1 now have nothing to point to in the bookmarks concerned. In some cases, the very bookmarks referred to have been deleted.

Hi, in that case I will have to rebuild it.
I'm trying to get three different sequences, A, B and C. I know how to do it with SEQ and bookmarks but it seems there is an automated way to generate the numbered list? |

SEQuence Fields can easily be stored as AutoText or AutoCorrect, but bookmarks require individual attentions since they must be unique.
You might be able to use the Caption feature which automatically creates SEQ fields and which can be used in Cross-References. When you do this, Word automatically creates a hidden bookmark. |

I suspect your document originally had automatic numbering in Tables 1-2 to 1-4. If you restore/apply those, the cross-references to those numbers will return in Table 2-1. Do note, though, that a lot of the cross-references appear to have been to the same number (3) in one of Tables 1-2 to 1-4.
