The first page is considered the cover page, so it is not numbered. The numbering starts at the next page, which is the second page. I would like to start the numbering from the actual first page which is the cover page, so that it is consistent with the "Page" field that shows in the bottom left corner of the document. When I do Cmd+Shift+P, I get the Template dialog window of Word. I have looked through the lengthy page whose link you have included, but cannot seem to be able to figure out how to do this on my Mac Word.
