Example -
Create a new letter size and the document is always 8.5 X 9 Go to page layout size it says it's 8.5 X 11 but according to my eyes, the rulers and everything else it's 8.5 X 9. Doesn't matter what I select page wise it's always exactly 2 inches short on one side - (portrait or landscape it's always short on the long side. ) Driving me nuts - If I open an existing document it's fine so I've been able to work around but I'm tired of creating new documents and having to update/delete everything. I think I worked on a document that was in fact exactly 2 inches short that I received from someone and it did start happening after that but I can't figure out how to revert whatever setting that was. |

Rename the normal template to oldnormal.dotm and see if that corrects it
If you have not changed the default location enter or copy %appdata%\Microsoft\Templates to the address window of Windows Explorer and you will be taken to the folder that contains the default template - which for Word 2010 is normal.dotm. Note that this folder is normally hidden. Check that you have a default printer configured.

Probably you just have "white space" (top and bottom margins) hidden. See http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/WhiteSpace.htm.
