Perhaps do with OverType rather than inserting new text. New text is added to the existing text and automatically pushes later text forward.

Huh. You state:
now i want to add info to the line after each word but when i do so the bottom of the page which has a small diagram goes to another page The fact that it goes to another page means it is being pushed forward. If I understand it, you have things underlined after the text, and then you want to put text after the word. Well then that underlined IS text, so if you want to put text after the word you must REPLACE (using OverType) that text. If you just put text in after the word then that underlined text is...pushed forward. |

You can select the area you want to type in (with the mouse) and start typing.
You may want an actual protected form using legacy form fields where you can only type in certain areas. You put the fields in a table with the cells set for fixed size. The bottom border of your table cell provides your underlining. See the Dian Chapman articles linked here: Making Forms with Microsoft Word |

the text was adding fine but it pushed the graph at the bottom to a new page and as someone said before it was pushing the empty line onto a new line so just added the text and deleted the line to the length of text i needed thanks to all who replied and sorry i could not explain better |

Or...add the text using OverType. NO deletion would be required. But whatever works for you. |

Looking up an answer for an earlier post, I found that Word 2010 now does its best to protect users from accidentally using Overtype … you'll need to enable it, as explained in the F1 help.
