![]() I am formatting a book in Word and I want to have the header alternate between the name of the book and the chapter so that the left hand page (when the book is put together) will have the title and the right hand page will have the chapter. How do I do this? |

Hi emgee,
Use a 'different odd and even' page layout.

Thanks. But how will it know which chapter to use?

Hi emgeeThat really depends on how you design your document.
If you have a Section break between chapters, you could unlink the headers for each Section and type the Chapter heading in the 'left' header. Alternatively, whether or not you use a Section break between chapters, if you format the Chapter heading in a Style that isn't used for anything else, you could use a STYLEREF field in the header, pointing to the Chapter's Style.
