Default 2 frustrating bugs in Word 2019 draft view - page number in status bar and invisible page breaks

1. no longer displaying page number (at bottom next to "Line"). It used to show, but a few months ago it stopped.
2. in Draft mode, not displaying page break that I insert one, so having to keep old Word 1997-2003 doc "compatibility" format.
Does Office 2021/2024 fix these 2 bugs?

Nb: I tried Office Repair, and also rebooting but didn’t help.
