1. How to AUTOMATICALLY add brackets to the equation number?

You can't. The only method is to edit the SEQ field to include the numeric formatting switch and then save it as an autotext, as explained previously by Stefan Blom.

2. How to get the label AUTOMATICALLY typed when making a cross-reference?



Again, you can't. Cross-references work by placing a hidden bookmark around the text to be referenced. If you reference a caption that does not include the label there is no possibility of the label appearing in the cross-reference. It can't include text that isn't there.
