Hello all,
I'm working on a book to print via CreateSpace and have about 100 pictures in my Word document. In the past, I've had no trouble saving this exact file as a PDF and having all the images intact. However, I am no no longer able to do this. When I export as PDF or save as PDF, the result is a PDF without images. When I print as PDF, all the images are there, but the page size is 8.5x11 (rather than the 8.38 x 8.5 of the actual Word doc). I've checked to ensure that both 'print drawings created in Word' and 'print background colors and images' are check under the printing options. Any ideas? And if you need more from me, just let me know. Thanks! |

A sample of a document with the problem would help. (not a screenshot, a document)
How to attach a screenshot or file in this forum. Also, version number for Word (File > Account > About Word) and how you are saving as pdf. |

Thanks, Charles. I'm using Word for Microsoft 365 MSO Ver. 2201, Build 16.0.14827.20180. I've tried the 'Save as Adobe PDF' method and the 'Export' as PDF method. Both of those result in all pictures missing. The 'Print' method (and then choosing PDF) does preserve the images, but loses the page size, despite the fact that the print size is set to the same as my book (8.38x8.5). I was unable to attach the file bc the forum said 'a security token was missing,' however, here's a OneDrive link to a sample that exhibits the issue. Thanks for your time! Microsoft services |

Here's a sample that exhibits the issue: Microsoft services
I've tried the 'save as Adobe PDF' method and the 'export' as PDF method, both fail to produce any images in the PDF format. The 'Print' method (with PDF chosen) produces images, but the page size is 8.5x11 despite the print settings be set to 8.38x8.5. I'm using Word for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2201 Build 16.0.14827.20180) 32-bit Thanks for your time! |

Save as Adobe PDF method is a construct of the Adobe Acrobat Add-In. You'll need support from Adobe if that is causing problems. Try the direct Save As and pick PDF as the file type. What happens? |

I tried but was unable to open your linked document. Try attaching it directly in this site. How to attach a screenshot or file in this forum.

I was also able to convert to PDF. I'm using Word 365, and I used the File/Export method of creating the PDF, and as I usually do for work stuff, ticked the "Optimize for image quality" in the options. I'm not sure why this isn't working for you, but it could be that Acrobat isn't loading the pictures promptly for you, while they are there. Can you see them in the attached PDF? Note, I had to remove past page 17 so it was a small enough file to upload. |

Noting Kilroy's success, I just tried again. Although I can view your document on OneDrive, any attempt to open in the desktop application fails. It is also not saved to my OneDrive. Again, you can attach a document here.

Hello all - thanks so much for the interaction! I'm sorry its taken me a while to get back to you, I'm only able to work on this project for three days out of the week. It looks like the 'save as' option is working for me. I'm not sure what was the deal with the other attempts...but, thank you very much for taking the time to help, and thanks for the 'save as' solution!
