Thanks for all your replies which I really appreciate.
I DO have 1 page and 2 pages selectable in the View tab and tried 1 page before but could not get the page to display large). I now notice PAGE WIDTH (I had tried 1 page earlier but had not noticed this earlier  ) and when I select it I get what I wanted, 1 page displayed and full width of screen. I am now ok and thanks all again. and again
