Apologies for the confusion, the OPs image doesn't have the Side by Side option and I was referring to the 'View' Side by Side' which refers to documents for comparison.
I should have been more clearer.

Edit - added info:
Word 2010 doesn't have the Side by Side option in the View tab as OP stated.
