Have you tried using the Zoom Slider at the bottom right corner or in the View tab, the 100% tab or the Zoom tab for more options including a finer zoom option to change to your preferred zoom percentage?
Note the setting in my example is remembered without having to make a save.
You could however, with an existing document open, zoom to your reqd percentage, then make an edit (remove a letter as an example, retype the letter and make a save).
