I am working on a book where in section 3, I want opposite headers. The author's name on left and title on right. When I set up the headers, it screws up my page numbering and my even pages disappear. Can someone help?
More details: Section 1 is no page numbers, section 2 is prologue, page 1-9, which numbers fine, and sect three is Chapt 1. Chap 1-19 is numbered sequentially. All the numbering is correct until I setup the headers, and select different first page and select different even and odd pages, all the even page numbers disappear. Can someone help? Thanks for your help in advance. |

That is because the page numbers are part of the header/footer. Different even and odd applies to both headers and footers. Page numbers, in Word, are fields, generally in a header or footer (even if in the margins).
You need to duplicate the page numbering in your even header/footer. With different even and odd, people often position the page number on an outside corner of the page. |

Yes, thank you. I'm figuring that out. I a certified MS lady was very helpful in this aspect. Thanks, again. Sharon
