Hi WOH's
I'm hoping that some one has experienced this problem and found the solution. I started making a simple birthday card in Word - 2 pages - front + back ( landscape, 2 columns each page). Made a draft copy having inserted a text box + text and successfully inverted the txt box and its text ( necessary for duplex printing). I tried to remove the outline border of the text box but gave up as option required was greyed out so left lines in. I changed the wording in txt box for the final coloured copy but then discovered that only the txt box would rotate to invert while the txt inside the box remained without rotating to invert. Unable to resolve this so I uninstalled Office 2010 and reinstalled but the problem remains even after opening new docs and retesting rotate txt box with txt. I am loathe to do a reinstall of W10. Any ideas pleeze! Regards Lojong Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 10-20-2018 at 03:13 PM. Reason: Mark as solved |

Is your problem document in compatibility mode?
In Word 2010 and later, text boxes, themselves, can be rotated with the text rotating to match. Earlier versions did not allow this rotation. Reinstall your Word 2010. It is a fine program. |

From the Insert menu, draw a text box. Type in it. Fill the text box with a colour of your choice. Select the box - grab the handle and rotate it as required. It works in Word 2010 and re-installing Windows will make no difference whatsoever.

Thank you Graham for your response. Yes, that is how one would hope that the event would happen. As mentioned in my post, the txt box ( the frame/border) rotates but the text inside the box remains fixed, horizontal. That is the problem. Should you find a solution to restoring txt box and txt rotating together, I would be most grateful.

It was your suggestion re. Compatibility mode that set up the way to a solution. More details here - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/o...e-f2f46ce5cd0e ABW Lojong Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 10-20-2018 at 03:10 PM. Reason: Edited hyperlink |

Select, then right click the Text Box border.
Format Shape > Text Box > Un-check ‘Do not rotate text > Close. Check and see if text now rotates with Text Box. ![]() |

To clarify for future readers of the thread.
The problem was that the document was in compatibility mode for a prior version of Word. Versions prior to Word 2010 did not rotate text inside text boxes. By taking the document out of compatibility mode, making it a Word 2010 (or later) document the text box could be created and rotated with the text rotating. |
