How do I prevent MS Word for Mac from adding a period after a two-letter all-cap state abbreviation in an address? In Preferences, I've unchecked all the editing items I can find. Thanks.

What are you doing in addition to typing the two-letter abbreviation?

After I type the two-letter abbreviation, I enter two spaces and type the ZIP code.

And the period appears when?

Word does not have any feature that inserts a period when there are two spaces.

The period appears after or while I'm typing the two spaces before the ZIP code.

The only place this would occur in Word would be in AutoCorrect. Can you check to see whether you have AutoCorrect Entries for the state abbreviations involved?

Sorry, I do not have a Mac. Most features work the same in Windows and Mac but the interface has differences.

Thanks, Charles. The problem is that I have all autocorrect options off, and it's still "correcting" state abbreviations.

I doubt that it is Word doing this. I strongly suspect some other program like Grammarly.

See what happens if you are using Pages instead.

Try enabling the AutoCorrect and unchecking the option to replace text as you type and then disabling it again.

Still appearing. Is there a specific setting somewhere for state abbreviations that I missed? I can't find anything like that in Word for Mac, unless I missed it.

SOLVED!

It's not a Word or a Pages setting. On a Mac, uncheck "Add period with double-space" in System Preferences > Keyboard > Text.
