Default Prevent Document from Auto-Paneling to Top of Page?

I googled a few things about auto-scrolling in Word 2013 which do not seem to be helping.

I am creating shape objects below a few lines of texts. When I have an object selected (like a line or square) and continue to click the canvas/document space, the document automatically scrolls to the top where the text is located.

Very frustrating as I was to no longer work with the text and focus on the objects and I have to scroll down each time I deselect an object. How can I stop Word from scrolling to where the cursor is?

If my question is not clear can someone let me know? I rephrased this a few times when googling and it only pulled up things like smart paragraph and auto-scrolling (as in linking the mouse to your scroll action instead of having the side scroll panels).

I have always used MSWord for its intended purpose...Word Processing. When it comes to playing with graphics or shapes inside of a word processor, I only see problems. It may not be a problem for others but, in my experience I have always used an external program such as PowerPoint, Visio or similar program to create the graphic/shape, then insert the graphic as a .jpeg (or other similar file) into Word where needed.

You may find that process to be beneficial for your project.

Agreed, Word is not ideal, espcially since I am creating large images with lots of components (objects and shapes). I am moving my office to using TurboCAD but in the meanwhile, trying to come over these issues I am running into while we are transitioning.

Any tips help!

That is even more reason to use software outside of Word. I assume that since you are using Office 2013 that you have PowerPoint available within that software suite. PowerPoint would be head and shoulders above Word when creating objects and shapes and, it is relatively easy to insert into Word.

At this point I work with a company that has been aquired by another corporate company and it is not my decision to move to PowerPoint. Word is the (outdated) program we have to use and slowly moving to TurboCAD. Until then, I am hoping people can give me pointers on this issue I have with Word (if there is a solution).

Sorry that I am selling other techniques. I just recently retired from a position where I had access to just about any software needed to get the job done. I understand most companies are not like that. Hopefully, other posters here can offer other solutions for you to get the job done.

Thanks I appreciate it. The company provided me with TurboCAD to write work-instruction for other, less computer savy people, in the office. Alot of people in admin have a hard time understanding Word/Excel/PowerPoint due to lack of experience. I have formal training in AutoCAD so it is a large step on instructing people from Word to TurboCAD. It seems until I can get others onboard with Office 2013, it is likely that I will be the only one using TurboCAD in the immediate future to get projects done.

Thanks Jim.

For reference, this is what an image will look like after it is completed. I have the selection panel open with the many objects, I do tend to group everything if I want to move the image as a whole after.

Throughout drawing this, I tried to move the anchor point to see if this effected the document from scrolling up to the top automatically when I deselect an object and it did not seem to change anything.
