![]() I just found two Word 2010 files in the same folder, both with the same name. When I searched the folder after updating one file, that file didn't appear. However, when I put the name in the search field it showed up. Still there were 2 files with the same name. I DID restore folder from an earlier backup and I am wondering if that makes a difference. Thank you for any ideas. |

What are the filename extensions for these files? You can display filename extensions in Windows to see this more quickly.
Note that Word creates a lot of temporary files as you are working on a document, so it isn't at all unusual to see several similar, but not identical, files in a folder. Typically, temporary files are deleted as you save and close the document. If that does not happen (for example, after Word has crashed), you will have to delete the files manually.
