Note that Word creates a lot of temporary files as you are working on a document, so it isn't at all unusual to see several similar, but not identical, files in a folder.
Typically, temporary files are deleted as you save and close the document. If that does not happen (for example, after Word has crashed), you will have to delete the files manually. For more, see
