OK so I reformatted the whole doc (which took ages!) - all the normal text that had become part of the Document Map was still normal text but in the Outline view had been changed from Body Text to Level 1. Having done this - the map worked great and TOC was correct... until I saved, closed and reopened - at which point it's changed all the same parts to Level 1 again... Geez - I'm thinking this must be a bug as I don't seem to be doing anything to cause it Thanks for replying btw
