Default endnote below table without overhang border

Hello,
I'm trying to add endnotes below a table in word 2013.

I added a continuous break before and after the table.
Within the 'Footnote and Endnote' dialog, I select "Endnotes" radio button.
And "End of section".
Footnote layout has "Match section layout".
Apply changes to "Whole document" and click "Apply".

Then I select a cell within the table and click "Insert Endnote".
But the endnote is placed after the continuous section break.
I thought it would be before the break. Guess not.
And a line appears over the endnote text that I type.
How do I keep this line from appearing?
thanks

To get the endnote to appear before the Section break, click on References > Footnotes> small arrow > Endnotes and choose 'End of Section'.

To eliminate the endnote separator line, switch to Draft view, then click on References > Footnotes> Show notes. The Endnotes should now appear in a window at the bottom of the screen. From the dropdown in the top of that window, choose 'Endnote Separator' and delete the line - you can't delete the entire separator, though. You may want to do the same with the 'Endnote Continuation Separator'.

I already had that selected. Please re-read initial post.

This removed that line for me. Thank you!

I don't know why the endnotes appear after section break. It makes the endnotes further away from the table then I'd prefer. Are these instructions for Word 2013?
Maybe the version doesn't matter.

I suggest, then, you check the 'suppress endnotes' setting for the relevant section's page layout.

That setting is unchecked. Must be the default because I created this doc as a test specifically for figuring out this endnote/table stuff.
Created a blank doc. Added a table. Added continuous break before and after the table.
Then did the steps described in the first post.
Is there an approved method for sharing docs on this forum?

You can attach a document to a post (delete anything sensitive) via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab at the bottom of this screen.

The document looks quite normal to me. Since the endnote reference is in the table, not before the section break, I'd expect it to appear after the table - which is exactly where it is. In terms of the formatting display, Word depicts the endnote as being after the Section break but, as it should be, before any subsequent content.

Where the endnote appears in relation to the Section break is immaterial. What matters is that the output is correct. As with some other design decisions made by MS, this is just one of those aspects that is counter-intuitive. Given that the Section break defines the Section boundary, MS probably found it simpler to calculate the endnote positioning in relation to that rather than trying to insert the endnote between the text and Section break.

I see. Ok, that makes sense.
Thanks for the perspective, macropod!
