I have a document with "{PAGE} of {NUMPAGES}" in it. There are no section breaks. When I manually update the fields, they correctly show "1 of 13", "2 of 13", etc. But when I print, Word updates them incorrectly to "1 of 1", "2 of 1", "3 of 1", etc.
This problem appears intermittently and in different forms. Sometimes it says "1 of 1" and then "2 of 2" for every subsequent page. And sometimes they update correctly and sometimes they do not. The document uses many macros, none of which mess with built in printing commands. To check, I created a blank document, inserted a few blank pages with the same field codes and the problem persisted. Has anyone had this problem before? I think toggling all field codes (alt-F9) and back again fixes the problem but I cannot be sure. Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 08-07-2015 at 04:30 PM. Reason: Mark as solved |

Try using DOCPROPERTY PAGES instead of NUMPAGES.

That seems to have fixed the problem for now. Thank you.

So the total page count is correct now and updates properly, but now the current page is wrong. It says, "1 of 13" on the first page and "2 of 13" on each subsequent page. Is there another field code I can use with the current page field that will work properly?
