Hi.
I would like to add chapters, section, subsection number and page on footer. It would be like this: Chapter 1 Section 1.1 Subsection 1.1.1 Subsection 1.1.2 Subsection 1.1.3 Section 2 Subsection 1.2.1 Subsection 1.2.2 And so on... After each section the page number restart. Now I need to create a footer and automatically shows those values. 1 - 1 - 1 - Pag number; 1 - 1 - 2 - Pag number; 1 - 1 - 3 - Pag number; 1 - 2 - 1 - Pag number; 1 - 2 - 2 - Pag number; Is it possible? Thank you! Best Regards, Guilherme |

I already changed the Styles to automatically set the number of the title 1, title 2 and title 3.

You can use the STYLEREF field to insert numbering from the "current" paragraph using a certain style.

If you use Heading styles (Chapter 1 = Heading 1, Section 1.1 = Heading 2, Subsection 1.1.1 = Heading 3) you can just format the page number to include the Chapter number and change the "Chapter starts with style:" to Heading 3. This will give you a page number of "1.1.1-page number"

Using chapter/page numbering may be the easiest solution. Of course, it assumes that the OP also wants this kind of page numbering in the table of contents.

This document is going to receive updates. Maybe very often... So I tough about create the most independent page numbers as possible (by section) so I won't have to print everything again, just the minimum as possible since one section will not change the page number of the others.

Then you may want to use the chapter/page numbering.
However, for readers of your document, using continuous page numbering will be more convenient (well, one or two restarts, say, after the front matter, would be OK of course).

Chapter numbers will show along side the page number if you select that option in the Page Number Format dialog box (Insert tab | Page Number | Format Page Numbers).

Hum... ok, thank you!
Is it possible to include more items? Like title 1 - title 2 - page? |

In my example, I preselected Heading 1/level 1, but you can use one of the lower level headings, if you want.

Yes, I saw. But I need to show more than one level.
Like 1-1-1-1, not just 1-1. Is it possible? |

Yes, assuming that you are using a multilevel list format where lower levels include the numbering of higher levels. For example, if you are using the "1 Heading 1, 1.1 Heading 2, 1.1.1 Heading 3" format, you can then select Heading 3 in the Page Number Format dialog box.

Hum... How should I set a multilevel list format for heading 1, heading 2 and heading 3?

Click in the first Heading 1 paragraph in your document, and then click Home tab | Multilevel List | Define New Multilevel List; Word displays the multilevel list dialog box. For more, see http://shaunakelly.com/word/numberin...g20072010.html.
