Default MS Word Issue

Every time I add a bullet point it is accompanied by two thick balck lines above and below. Could someone please advise me how to stop this happening? Screen Shot attached...

It appears as though you have a "custom border" associated with the bullet(s). To remove this border: (a) From the "Page Layout" tab, click on 'Page Borders' to get the Borders and Shading dialog menu; (b) Click on 'Custom" from the 'Borders" tab; then (c) Review the "Preview" section of the menu (right-hand side). If the two boxes (indicating the upper and lower portions of the line) are highlighted, click on them to remove the upper/lower highlighed lines. In the Apply to: section, select "Paragraph". Click OK. (See attachment for illustration).
