Hello,
I have one 190 page word document and another 112 page word document. I want to combine the two documents into a single document. (I want to append or concatenate one document to the other.) Also, I want to retain the formatting of each document. However, the styles in each document are different. For example, "body text" in document one is of one type of font/spacing, but in document two it is a different font/spacing. I've tried copying and pasting one document to the end of the other. However, the format of the pasted material is not the same. I've tried "insert text from file" to append one document to the other, but again the formatting is not retained. I've tried renaming the styles in document one, enabling developer mode to copy styles from document two into document one. However, even though I've renamed "body text" to "body text-doc1", when I copy "body text" from document two it asks, "Do you want to replace body text-doc1." I'm stumped. Anyone know how to do what I'm trying to do? The new document has to retain the appearance of the original documents, but it doesn't have to be MS Word format, so I'd be open to doing this as a PDF. Any help is appreciated! |

Change the styles in one of the documents to be completely different names and not based on any style. Then do your copy. This in not renaming the styles but creating new styles with different names.
