I am not sure what issues you are having. However what you could do is copy the title page from the document you want to use for your title page and paste it as an image. Not pasting it as an image will result in the page picking up style settings from your document and overwrite the existing ones. For example you may have a "Normal" style in your document that differs from the other document. This means that all settings from the original will be overwritten by your own documents settings.
