First post here.

I'm just about to submit my doctoral thesis for binding, and I'm having trouble numbering the pages according to their specs.

Here's what the document needs to look like:

(The Introductory section uses lower-case Roman numerals)

Page 1: counted, but no number appears.

Page 2: not counted, and no number appears.

Page 3: not counted, and no number appears.

Page 4: number ii must appear in the header

Page 5: number iii must appear in the header

Page 6: number iv must appear in the header

Page 7 (here, the document switches to Arabic numerals): counted, but no number appears.

Page 8: number 2 must appear in the header (etc.)

*All pages from here numbered, except for...

Page 301 (last page): no number appears

Is this even possible to do in one file?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Also, if you do have a solution, please explain it as you would to a 5 year old who has never seen a computer before.
