![]() I am experiencing an issue with one of my co-workers in that he is taking my work product and basically claiming it as his own when he presents it in meetings. How can I prevent changes to the author or owner fields in the properties window/dialog so that in the future I can retain the ability to claim the work I do as my own? Any help would be appreciated. TX! |

Word can't do this for you. Anything you can add to a document to indicate ownership, someone else can edit. Of course, you could password-protect the file, so that no-one else can open it, but that might be counter-productive. Ultimately, this is an integrity and management issue. If you feel you're not being given due credit for your work and that someone else is claiming as their own, lodge a complaint with whoever has the responsibility for the work area concerned.

In a corporate environment, the daily backups should be able to show who created the document and at what point the 'ownership' changed. In Windows Explorer, right-clicking on a file and choosing Properties>Details will show you whose user account was used to create the file (unless the person you're having problems with changed the file's properties), but that tells you nothing about who did all the work.
