With regard to preds/succs, I have always used a new column in th egannt showing preds and succs (new column, choose predecessors, repeat for successors). this will only give line numbers and not the actual item, so possibly not what you need.
WRT the details box, not sure quite what view you have. I tick details and choose task form from the box to the right of it and see preds and succs- may need to change it by right clickng on the details in th elower half of the screen abnd chhose preds/succs.

As for jumping to itms, I tend to ress F5 and type in the ne number I need. Probably not the best way, but I have gotten used to it, and I know it works.
