Ah, but "two days of effort" is two days of work - not duration. You are entering duration and Project will calculate work - that is what it is programmed to do.

Thanks for your response. the light has come on at last .
I have been using Project for many years believe it or not but even I forget the basics sometimes.
This is why this forum is so invaluable.
