Default How to make a trimmed audio file play across slides

I am trying to play part of an audio file at the end of a presentation. I can trim it at the right place, and it will start at the right place as long as I choose "Start Automatically" under Playback. If I choose "Play Across Slides," as I have for the rest of the presentation, the slide will not advance. Any way around this?
