Default Video stops with final frame on first run but black on second run

One of my slides consists of nothing other than a video clip. When this runs first time the clip runs and then stops with the final frame on screen. Showing this last night the speaker asked for the previous slide again to watch the video a second time. On the second run the video clip played properly but instead of then stopping with the final frame on screen it went to a black screen on finishing the video. The animation is set to play after previous and stop on next slide. I am guessing that the stop is still active when we go back to that slide from a following slide.

Is there any way to stop that from happening?

This is on powerpoint 2010 64 bit running on Windows 8 with a dual screen set up.
