Default Animation - Moves in Wrong Place and Direction

I am finding animations are not occurring where I expect, why not?

I have pasted a process flow chart onto the presentation page. At the start arrow I have pasted a PacMan type object. I start it, then move it right, then move it down to the first process and all those steps are fine.

I then try move it right to second process, then right again to the third.

What happens? On the last two steps, it moves right to left (instead of left to right) and quite some distance away from the arrow place markers. The direction of travel is the reverse of the arrow direction. Even if I reverse the direction of both these right moves, one of them is a long way from where it should be. The other is not perfect and the move is not really near enough to the arrow.

I would be please to hear any suggestions.
