Good Day,
Hope someone can help me with this issue. I did a backup of my outlook data, as well as a F9 as I was in the process of redoing my computer and needed to backup. Now when I restore my Outlook data some of the information is not present, and when I check my data files, I notice that I have two files that are the same name, and time but one has less information than the other and the file with the larger size has a different icon from the other, can anyone explain what this means and how do I get the information out of the larger file, as when I try to open in with Outlook, it tells me that its not an Outlook data file. Using Windows 7 and Outlook 2010, both 64-bit. I know that one of the files is an .ost file which I believe is the working offline storage file, I would like to know how do I get the information out of that file and into my new Outlook setup. Try running the scanpst agaist the larger file, it may be damaged in some way. You should be able to import the .PST file in Outlook using the import/export wizard.

THanks for that saigasmith, but I should point out that the larger file is an .ost file which is the offline store. I will see if the scanpst.exe will accept and attempt to fix the .ost file.
Really hope there is a way to get at the data. UPDATE: Tried running the scanpst.exe on the .ost file, still no go. I don't think there is anything wrong with the file. I just need to find a way to get the data out of it and back into OUtlook. Last edited by kirrinjones; 08-17-2011 at 12:52 PM. Reason: new information |
