![]() Being new to this forum and noticing that many posts have zero replies to their requests for help, I am curious if this forum is monitored/read by any MS Outlook experts. I do not know where else to turn to get an answer to my previous post, because I MUST be able to create new folders to store emails whenever I get a new customer. (please see my previous post) Outlook 2010 is rejecting approx 50% of the new folders that I try to create. This was not a problem when I was using Outlook 2003 and I cannot believe that I am the only person with this problem in Outlook 2010. If I'm not following customary protocol to get help here, please let me know. Thanks! Mike |

I do believe this forum is monitored by moderators, however the technicians that reply are of great help.
To aid you in resolving your issue, please provide some additional information - What error is Outlook 2010 reporting? - Give an example of a folder you are attempting to create. - Where are you creating these folder? Meaning under what primary folder / account. - What type of email account are you suing? POP IMAP Exchange. Keep me posted. |

SpiderTech,
I just attached the 2 error messages that I get when I try to create a folder. I am using Outlook 2010 and have an IMAP account. (just exactly as I did with Outlook 2003) Listed under my email account (mike@xxxxxxxxxxx.com (IMAP) I create a folder for each new customer that I get and that folder is named for the company of that person, such as Ajax Pools, for instance. Then, whenever I receive an email from someone at Ajax Pools, I file that email in their respective folder. Outlook is basically telling me that about 1/2 of these new folders cannot be created. (as if they already exist) I have found a work-around that so far seems to work; however, I am having to change the name of the folder slightly by either combining the names such as "AjaxPools" instead of "Ajax Pools". Names that are one word, I try to figure out a way to split them - such as "Art-craft" instead of the real name "Artcraft". I hope my notes here make sense. I just know that Outlook is not supposed to be acting this way. I've been using it too many years. I really appreicate your response and hope you or someone else can help. Thanks! |

mikepla,
Thank you for posting the screenshots. I understand your needs and can offer information on the first error message. When you receive the error " Cannot Create folder: The server responded: Create mailbox already exists" normally means the folder you are creating exists. However, based off your screenshot Dan Zink is a persons name and should be allowed to be created as a folder. Check your listing for contacts for this user to see if he is associated to a listing and remove it and try crating it again. Another solution is to try building the folder like this " Dan_Zink" see if this produces the same error. The second error sounds like Outlook having issues. Try this command switch: /resetfolders Restores missing folders for the default delivery location. Outlook Command Line Switches may be used to clear errors within Outlook caused by personalization settings or corruption. To run Outlook with a command line switch, use the following steps: Windows XP:
Windows Vista/7:
