![]() Just installed this the other day. Office 2003 XP had a folder for all unread mail. No matter which folder the mail was sent, it would also show up there until it was read. Is it gone? Is it hidden? I want it to be right up there in my "Favorites". Oh, wait a minute, there is no "Favorites" folder either... Maybe it is hidden inside a hidden Favorites folder... Thoughts appreciated |

Hmmm, no answer to this? Does this mean that there is no universal Unread Mail folder that lists all the unread mail for all accounts in my outlook? If this is true, is it even reasonable that I have to look into all 50 folders every time I bring in mail to see if anything exists in them? I cannot even just scroll down the narrow list because folders that are sub-sub folders have that information off the screen. I will also have to create only very short folder names. I guess I should not even think of looking for a universal Drafts, sent items, or Outbox. I don't recall reading that Outlook can only handle one e-mail address. This is messed up crazy... Em P,.S, This was written in paragraphs but it shows up as one,... How so?

Unfortunately there is no real "Universal Inbox" for Outlook 2007 or 2010. You can opt to have all mail delivered to a single store, but if you're directing new mail to that many folders then that's probably the opposite of what you want (and it doesn't even work for IMAP and Exchange accounts).
The best I can suggest is to add the folders that you receive mail in to your "Favorites" section, so you can at least see the indication of new mail in the folders without the full folder path crowding the Nav pane. -SW |

I don't see any option for favorites Folder. That is probably what was in the previous version. I am wondering if all I have to do is to switch it on somehow. |

Outlook 2003 does have the Favorites section like the later version. If you're not seeing it, you are likely looking at the Folder List view for the Nav Pane, rather than the Mail list. Favorites only show when you're looking at only the Mail folders. Click on the Mail button at the bottom of the Nav Pane and the Favorites should show up.

I wonder why nothing in the documentation mentions anything about the Favorites folder at all. Believe me, I have been looking. I cannot imagine why there would ever be an option to lose the favorites let alone them being hidden by default... Thanks many.... |

This is in the Help.
Restore the Unread Mail folder The Unread Mail folder is a default Outlook search folder. If deleted, you can create it again.

Thanks, but it was in the MS Office Help all the time. RTFM, as we used to say.
