Hi all,
First post, but have beeen using this forum as a great resource! I have dug high and low on this issue and there is some clarification, but I still can't seem to get things working properly. Sorry for the long post. Here's my issue - My ISP provides me with an email account. The mail account is a POP3 account. - I have 3 computers in my house, of which one is running Outlook 2007 while the other 2 are running 2003. - I have placed my PST file on a Network attached storage device so that I can open my email from any computer. - I have Blackberry that I pull my messages from the POP3 account. - I have to set my email account in Outlook to leave messages on the server for a day or two in the event that I have my Outlook open and I download the messages and the email never gets pushed to my BB. - So here's the issue. If I open Outlook on one computer it successfully downloads the messages no problem - all good. - but if I happen to be sitting on another computer and load Outlook, it re-downloads the messages cause they are still on the POP3 server and for some reason, Outlook can determine if it already exists in the PST file and I end up with a whack of duplicates. So, am I missing something or is there a setting that I should have on or off. Please help! |

prairieboy,
The reason you are getting duplicates is you have the .PST on a network that 2 clients are accessing. Since a POP3 pulls emails directly to your local default folders, there is no synchronization happening just 2 clients puling the same content to one location. Even if you renamed one of them and pulled your messages bot .PST files will contain the same data. There is no known setting to resolve this. Best Regards, |
