![]() I have recently installed Office 2013 0n to a new PC. When I transferred my word documents from the old PC they have been changes to the xml format and open in Word Pad. Does anyone know how to change the file extensions without having to open every file in word and saving as .docx? Thanks Tony |

Transferring documents from one PC to another does not change the file format. What you're describing suggests you have the wrong file associations, such that the documents are associated with WordPad instead of with Word.
Have you tried repairing the Office installation (via Programs & Features > Microsoft Office > Change in the Windows Control Panel)? If that doesn't resolve the problem: 1. Exit Word. 2. Click Start, click Run, type winword.exe /unregserver in the Open box, and then press ENTER. 3. Click Start, click Run, type winword.exe /regserver in the Open box, and then press ENTER.
