Default Ordinals Applied to Merge Field

I have a date that is pulled through as part of a merge field as follows:

and payable on the { MERGEFIELD Contract_DemandDate\@ "d" \Ordinals } day of each month by standing order

The day is split off as expected but for some reason this does not seem to add the ordinals on the end. The merge field is a date and splitting off the day doesn't seem to be a problem but it's almost as if the ordinals and the mergefield are processed at the same time so the ordinals can't be applied to the split off day.

Any help would be appreciated.

Your field switch for the ordinals is wrong. You should be using:
{MERGEFIELD Contract_DemandDate \@ "d" \* Ordinal}

To see how to do just about everything you might want to do with dates in Word, check out my Microsoft Word Date Calculation Tutorial, at:

Sorry was a typo on my behalf. When corrected still shows:

the 14 day of each month by standing order

instead of:

the 14th day of each month by standing order

The field code, as posted by me, works - even in preview mode. Assuming you do have the field code correct, there may be an issue with your Windows regional settings.

Default Regioal Settings

Must be regional settings then. Currently set as UK so not quite sure what else can be done?

UK regional settings won't be affecting it - some European ones could, though, due to differences in separator characters. UK, US, Canada & Australia should all be OK.

If you could attach a copy of your mailmerge main document to a post with some representative data (delete anything sensitive), I'll take a look at it. You do this via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab at the bottom of this screen.

Your mailmerge main document looks OK. Can you attach some sample data? I don't need client names/addresses, etc - just the fields containing the data for the «Contract_StartDate», «Contract_EndDate», «Contract_PaymentInterval» & «Contract_DemandDate» outputs.
