How to stop repaginating

As Kimberly wrote, you can't turn off repagination in Print Layout view.

However, if repagination occurs constantly, really slowing down a document, that might be a sign of document corruption. See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm.

Thanks for your replies. It appears the option to turn off background repagination is greyed out?

The option is always greyed out in Print Layout view. You can't turn off repagination in that view.
