Hi Art,

Did you close & re-start Word? The only other reason for 'Document 1' remaining active until you exit Word is that you've done something to 'edit' it before opening another document. That could be anything as simple at hitting the space bar or enter key. In that case, you'd also bet getting a propmpt before exiting Word/closing 'Document 1' asking if you wanted to save the changes.
