Default email directly from Word?

Hello everyone,

I recall, many years ago, Word had a feature with which you can send a document via email directly from Word. Does that feature still exist in any MS program?

Kind regards,

tecknot

You can do it easily enough with a macro, or if you are not up to that see E-Mail Document

Pretty cool little programs you have, Graham. Thanks!

However, how would I make a macro to send e-mail body? I am not that tech savvy, but want to learn as much as possible if you would lend some knowledge.

Kind regards,

tecknot

It is still there, just not in the ribbon.

You can easily add it to your Quick Access Toolbar via File | Options | Quick Access Toolbar

Hi Graham,

I downloaded and installed your Send as Email program. First off, your installation messages (disclaimer) are too small to read. Second, the program doesn't seem to work. I wrote a small message in Word and hit the Send as e-mail body button, but no e-mail was created after the Create Message button was hit.

Can you help me out?

Kind regards,

tecknot

Hi Italophile,

Thanks for the reply, I greatly appreciate it. I took a look into the Quick Access Toolbar, but I only have an option to include the Word doc as an attachment and not as the body of the message (which I was going for). Is there an add-in I can download to include that feature into Word?

Kind regards,

tecknot

Hi again Graham (@gmayor),

I want to retract some of my message above. The program does work a little bit. It creates a draft of the e-mail message, but does not pop-up as a e-mail message (as I expected). Further, the send To fields are not populated as expected nor is the subject line.

Can you address this?

Kind regards,

tecknot

You need to look under All Commands.

Hi Charles,

Thank you. Yes, I have all commands open but all three options available are to send the Word document as an attachment or as a PDF attachment or as a XPS attachment. I can't find a way to send the document as the body of the e-mail.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

tecknot

The file attached to my previous post gives the following in the QAT.

You are right. None of these commands create an email using the text of the document as the body.
Graham's utility does. It works for me.
The download button for that is at the very bottom of the page.

Hi Charles,

I downloaded your macro. Thanks! I also tried Grahams program which I have a couple of issues which I hope he will address.

Thanks again.

My .dotx file has no macros. It can only use commands already built into Word.
Graham's Add-In does use macros to extend this.

Oh, okay. I thought it had a macro because it put the e-mail tool into the toolbar.

Thanks nonetheless.

Kind regards,

tecknot

You can put any available command on the QAT without using macros.
