Hi



Is this OK to post here re Microsoft Word? (I couldn't find a section for Word specifically).

I want to try and recover a situation with a Word doc... I think it is probably unrecoverable... but here goes.


Somehow... and i was typing fast and the screen froze so i cant be sure what happened...i deleted the contents of a word document and then saved it.... so it is now blank... i do not have a backup of it...

To be clear i havent deleted the actual document, i have just saved it as a blank document.

Is there any way to roll it back or recover a cached version?


This happened about 2 hours ago.

If the document is still open and if it is now responding, try Undo with Ctrl+Z (multiple times if necessary). You may be able to recover the content.

Thanks Stefan - that did not work... i assume as it is saved it wont go back using CTRL+Z

You can Undo even after you saved a document, as long as it hasn't been closed and reopened in between.

It closed it down also unfortunately.

Unfortunately none of that worked.

That is bad news. It suggests that you have lost the content permanently, I'm afraid.

It’s an annoyance but not a disaster.

Lesson learnt to back up even more!!
