I have been working on cleaning up the OCR in a large document. I am getting some odd symbols that I have copied, press Control+H and tried to bulk delete, but they just stay there.
These are the ones in light grey right after the Page Break. I've attached a doc with some of the odd symbols. If anyone can help I would be grateful. There is also a second issue, where Word is inserting tiny little boxes with question marks inside. These also won't disappear. |

The gray characters are mostly the letter I in 14pt Calibri, 50% Gray shading.
The "tiny little boxes with question marks inside" represent Unicode characters not supported in the Calibri font you're using. Switching to Arial or Times New Roman shows the one in your attachment to be a Unicode box character.

If I highlight words containing those tiny little boxes and switch it to Times New Roman or Arial, the boxes remain. Is there a way I can delete them, or better yet, get them to display the text as they are supposed to?

I can delete most of them with:
Find = I I but there's still a lot of other characters to delete and the font color isn't consistent. For the unsupported Unicode characters, you don't need to change the font. Simply copy one and paste one into the Find dialogue. If more than one unsupported Unicode character is in use, you'll have to do this for each such character.
