How do I get rid of these symbols?
Or replace them with CRLF ^p ? |

Those symbols indicate end-of-cell and end-of-row markers for Word tables. You cannot 'get rid of' them without deleting the table or converting it to text.

Thank you for your response.
Alas ! My "Help" screen has this :- --------------------------------------- Convert a table to text 1. Select the rows or table you want to convert to text. 2. On the Layout tab, in the Data section, click Convert to Text. --------------------------------------- But my Layout Tab HAS no "Data" section. So how do I do the conversion ? The 'Data' section is where the 'Convert to Text' option appears on the Table Tools contextual Ribbon.
Simply click on the table, without selecting anything in particular, then choose Table Tools>Layout>Convert To Text>OK.

No change in that regard since the introduction of Office 2007...
