Default Block Quotes in Word

Hi, Dear Friends!

Is it possible to format a paragraph as a block quote in Word without adding any text boxes?
What I am getting at is:

1. PAragraph indented from both left and right margins = no-brainer

2. special background color = no brainer - shading

3. "padding" within that special color. i.e., a margin between that special color and the text itself and a special quote symbol = I am stuck (see attached for a general idea)

Thank you, and have a good day!

You can use a frame, I believe.
This can be part of a style definition.

Default Why not just a one celled table

Thank you for your attention!

Would not a one-celled table suffice? Get much more control over everything.

You don’t need either a frame or a table. Just add borders around the text. The shading will extend to where you place the border.
The quote would need to be a shape though, as it will need to be wrapped in front of text.

I agree. The quote could be a DropCap as well (which is a Frame).
You can save the border and shading as part of a style.

I've attached a document that uses the border method.

Thank you for your attention!

But in a left/right justified PAR, it will only shade to the extent of the text of the last line; it will not create a block (square) around the quote, correct?

Also, it appears that I cannot format a PAR with this as a style and reform another PAR as the dame because the table/cell does not become part of the style, correct? I know a frame would do that, but tables are much easier to work with, right?

Thank you, and have a good day!

Default Sorting styles

I see that even after I have chosen to sort styles alphabetically, it still groups them by paragraph styles and character styles. Is there a way to force Word to sort them exclusively alphabetically and to group together all the character styles and all the paragraph styles?

Thank you for your attention!

The Style Panes Options box, accessible from the Style pane, lets you select how to sort the styles. However, you can select only one sort option. So You can sort alphabetically or by type, but not both.

Be aware that the sorting option will likely reset to "Recommended" (which never made much sense to me anyway) when you close Word.

If you use a Border (the same color as your shading) and set the distance of the border from text, this formatting can be saved as a paragraph style.

The special quote symbol cannot be part of this. It could be an AutoText entry or other Building Block, or an AutoCorrect entry.
