In MS Word i have inserted a textbox at the left margin of my document. This textbox refers to a certain line in my text. If i add text to the text body then the text box at the left margin doens't move along. How can i let the text box move along with the line of text it is referring to?

One possibility is to ensure that the text box is set to "Move with text" in the Layout dialog box. See screen shot below.

An even more flexible method is to make use of a frame. For more, have a look at Suzanne S. Barnhill's article Marginal Text.
