Define a paragraph style for each level of numbering (see How to create numbered headings or outline numbering in Word 2007 and Word 2010 | ShaunaKelly.com) and also clear the option "Don't add space between paragraphs of the same style" for each paragraph style you are using with numbered items.

Thank you for this nudge. I had tried it before a couple of times but got frustrated by the lack of steps. Tried again and researched the missing steps. Finally made it work. Thank you for contributing and serving.

Note that the option "Don't add space between paragraphs of the same style" applies to all paragraph styles, not just to numbered ones, so there is no reason to discuss it in an article which specifically deals with multilevel numbering.

Are you saying that you believe that other steps are missing from the shaunakelly.com article? Feel free to elaborate. :-)
