what do you mean as draft mode?
anyway, i saved my file in .doc format instead of .docx format, and now it's ok!
can you explain why?

View tab > Draft view.
Draft view does not try to show you what the printed version will look like on your screen.


Performance of documents depends very much on the document structure. I have huge documents that work well. Did you read the link I gave, in particular the experiments I ran.

You can also turn off background repagination. Draft view is the quickest, though.

In saving as .doc format you lose a number of features.
