Thanks. I played it it a little over the weekend but that page seems mainly to talk about numbering the headings correctly. (I used this page a few years ago when setting up the headings for this same template I'm working on now.) I don't want to modify my headings; they're fine as they are. I only want to create a new numbered-list style that begins with whatever section number the list is in.



I feel like this ought to be achievable using a built-in field code. Something akin to { SECTION } except instead of showing the current doc section, it would display the numbered heading directly above. But maybe that's asking too much, since not all headings have numbering anyway.

The solution is probably on that instruction page right in front of me. I will keep plugging away.
