![]() Hello, I'm using Microsoft 365 and yesterday the Replace dialogue box stopped loading with Word when I pressed Ctrl-H or selected "Replace" from the Home tab. (The Find function still worked.) I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling 365 but nothing has helped. I even downloaded and uninstalled 365 using the "Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant" but when I reinstalled 365 Ctrl-H still didn't work with Word. (But it works with Excel and Powerpoint.) When I press Ctrl-H, just about everything on the ribbon either goes blank or greys out until I press Esc. Any suggestions of how to repair this? Thanks, Roger |

Does this happen when you start Word in safe mode?

I've just checked and it works OK in safe mode. Does that provide any clues as to what's gone wrong?

I seem to have sorted the problem! I went through the troubleshooting guide at How to troubleshoot problems that occur when you start or use Word - Office | Microsoft Docs.
After deleting the Word data registry subkey at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\W ord\Data the Replace function started working again. I'm grateful for your reply, Charles - when you asked if it worked in safe mode that got me thinking in right direction. Many thanks! |

You are welcome. When things get wonky in Word that is usually my starting point. (If it does not work in safe mode, too, I will usually try a repair.)
