As per my advice in post #5, you should be using a paper size of A4 landscape (i.e. with the width set to 29.7cm and the height set to 21cm). In bookfold, this will automatically generate a document with A5 pages. This should be immediately obvious on-screen.
If your A4 document occupied 70 pages, it would be reasonable to expect the A5 format to require anywhere from to 132 to 148 pages - in 4-page multiples - after you've adjusted the margins to suit the smaller format.
